Hi.

My name is Elana Adler and am currently living in Brooklyn, NY. I studied Textiles at the Rhode Island School of Design, receiving my BFA in 2008.

While studying Textiles, I became interested in pattern and the concept that pattern recognition is fundamental to how we perceive and understand our world. The making and breaking of repetition is what fuels my art. Pattern is the vehicle for how I express humor, beauty and sophistication. I focus on depicting stories and experiences, whether representational or not, through color, texture, pattern and shape. The eye has to choose what it wants to see and I try create new and interesting perspectives from mundane, everyday situations.

I love plants, animals, collecting objects and making sound effects.
